This position involves navigating and operating crew boats (Surfer vessels) to safely transport crew and cargo. The role requires strong maritime navigation skills, experience with jet propulsion systems, and full compliance with marine safety standards. The Crew Boat Pilot must be licensed, skilled in emergency procedures, and capable of maintaining operational logs and coordinating with maritime authorities.
Navigate and operate Surfer vessels to transport personnel and cargo safely.
Conduct routine maintenance checks and ensure the vessel is seaworthy before departure.
Maintain communication with maritime authorities, crew members, and other vessels.
Ensure adherence to maritime safety protocols and operational guidelines.
Complete and update operational logs, voyage records, and safety reports accurately.
Assist in emergency response actions and support first responder procedures.
Monitor vessel performance, address minor technical issues, and report major faults.
Follow strict safety standards and ensure compliance across all operations.
Must be a licensed and NIMASA-registered boat pilot.
Minimum of two years of experience operating Surfer boats.
Two to three years of experience working with jet propulsion systems.
Strong knowledge of navigation in rivers and channels.
Valid Boat Captain License or relevant marine certification.
Proficiency with maritime safety practices and emergency procedures.
Ability to perform pre-departure inspections and routine vessel checks.
Strong communication and coordination skills for working with crew and authorities.
Good computer skills for record-keeping and reporting.
Experience in the maritime or oil and gas sector is an added advantage.
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
