Lead and manage a distributed team of engineers developing distributed tracing or service mesh products as part of Canonical’s Observability group. Oversee technical delivery, team growth, and collaboration while contributing to code and architecture.
* Manage a distributed engineering team and its observability portfolio
* Organize and lead team processes to achieve objectives
* Conduct one-on-one meetings and monitor team health indicators
* Review code produced by engineers and provide architectural guidance
* Interact with the open-source community and represent Canonical at conferences
* Collaborate with other Engineering Managers, product managers, and architects on roadmap and strategy
* Facilitate technical delivery and promote high-performing, productive teams
* Exceptional academic track record
* Proven professional experience in software delivery
* Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred)
* Professional software development experience, ideally with open source contributions
* Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
* Curiosity, flexibility, accountability, and result-oriented mindset
* Willingness to travel up to 4 times per year
