GEICO is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of its payment platform. This role focuses on building scalable, secure systems, leveraging data for fraud detection and payment analytics, and mentoring engineering teams in a fast-paced fintech environment.
* Architect and build scalable, secure payment systems with real-time fraud detection and batch processing.
* Design and maintain data pipelines and analytics frameworks to monitor transactions and optimize performance.
* Partner with cross-functional teams to define and execute the technical roadmap for payment modernization.
* Ensure platform reliability, performance, and compliance with industry standards.
* Mentor engineers, share best practices, and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.
* Provide on-call support, troubleshoot issues, and champion CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
* Fluency in at least two modern programming languages (Java, C++, Python, or C#) and object-oriented design.
* 6+ years designing complex systems, data pipelines, and scalable architectures.
* Expertise in SQL, open-source databases, and NoSQL databases for transaction and analytics use cases.
* 10+ years in software development, platform architecture, or infrastructure management; experience with payment or fintech systems preferred.
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
*Preferred:*
* Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, or hybrid) and DevOps practices.
* Hands-on CI/CD and monitoring tools (Git, Jenkins, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
* Experience with big data pipelines, streaming data, and AI/ML frameworks for fraud detection.
