Job Summary




CHaPS seeks a Clinical Nurse Consultant – Quality and Safety to support safe, high-quality clinical care across statewide child and family health services. The role supports safety event management, infection prevention, consumer feedback processes, auditing, reporting, and quality improvement initiatives, working closely with CHaPS leadership and other Quality and Safety teams within the Department of Health.

















Key Responsibilities

Co-ordinate and support quality and safety functions across CHaPS clinical services.



Advise leadership on safety event management and infection prevention and control.



Co-ordinate consumer feedback, auditing programs, and service gap assessments.



Identify, report, and propose actions for quality and safety improvements.



Support staff in implementing quality improvement processes.



Work with Department of Health Quality and Safety teams on priority actions.



Provide expertise on accreditation, risk management, and investigations.



Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.



Contribute broad clinical and operational experience in primary health settings.


Required Qualifications

Broad clinical and operational experience within complex healthcare environments, including primary health services.



Strong understanding of patient safety principles.



Extensive knowledge of continuous quality improvement and accreditation standards.



Experience in risk management, investigations, and compliance with NSQHS Standards.



High-level interpersonal, communication, mediation, and conflict-resolution skills.



Ability to influence, engage, and motivate staff.



Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.



Current Working with Children Registration.



Desirable:



Relevant postgraduate qualification (or working towards).



Current driver’s license.
