Job Summary




Unified Payment Services Limited is Nigeria’s leading Payments and Financial Technology company, providing shared infrastructure and payment solutions within and outside Nigeria. The company seeks to recruit a highly experienced Head of Legal Services to lead its legal and compliance functions, ensuring that its operations, policies, and decisions align with regulatory requirements and best practices.


Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Legal Services Department.


Advise executive management and the Board on legal and regulatory issues affecting the company’s operations.


Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts and agreements to protect the company’s interests.


Manage corporate governance and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.


Represent the company in interactions with regulators, external counsel, and other stakeholders.


Supervise the custody and organization of all legal documents, contracts, and instruments.


Lead, mentor, and develop the Legal Services team to ensure continuous professional growth.


Monitor emerging regulatory developments and advise management on potential risks or impacts.


Coordinate and manage external legal counsel to ensure effective and cost-efficient service delivery.


Develop and maintain a robust compliance framework across all business operations.

Required Qualifications


Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and Call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L) are mandatory.


A Postgraduate degree (LL.M or MBA) or professional certifications such as ICSAN or IBA are added advantages.


Minimum of 10 years post-call experience, with at least 5 years in a senior legal leadership role within financial services, fintech, or a reputable law firm.


Demonstrated expertise in corporate and commercial law, compliance, contract negotiation, and governance.


Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.


Excellent understanding of Company Law, Financial Services Regulations, and legal risk management.


Proven ability to manage complex legal issues and foster strong relationships with stakeholders.
