Electrical Technician

African Industries Group (AIG), a global conglomerate with over five decades of industrial excellence, seeks a skilled Electrical Technician to support operations at its DRI plant in Kaduna. The role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems and equipment to ensure uninterrupted, safe, and efficient production processes.

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, transformers, switchgear, MCC panels, VFDs, and lighting systems.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in power circuits, control panels, and equipment.
• Inspect and test electrical components to ensure compliance with operational and safety standards.
• Support engineers in the installation, calibration, and commissioning of electrical systems and machinery.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, test results, and spare parts utilization.
• Comply with safety regulations, including lockout/tagout and permit-to-work procedures.
• Collaborate with mechanical and operations teams to minimize downtime during maintenance.
• Uphold high standards of housekeeping and promote safe work practices.

• ND, HND, Technical Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance within DRI, Steel, Cement, or similar heavy process industries.
• Proficient in LT/HT systems, industrial wiring, and motor control systems.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings and operate testing instruments.
• Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and safety awareness skills.
