Electrical Technician

African Industries Group (AIG), a leading global conglomerate with over five decades of industrial excellence, is seeking a qualified Electrical Technician to support its DRI plant operations in Kaduna. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electrical systems and equipment through regular maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on motors, transformers, switchgear, MCC panels, VFDs, and lighting systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults in circuits, control panels, and power systems.
• Inspect and test electrical equipment to verify performance and compliance with safety standards.
• Assist engineers in the installation, calibration, and commissioning of new electrical systems and equipment.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance work, test results, and spare parts utilization.
• Adhere to lockout/tagout and permit-to-work procedures during maintenance activities.
• Coordinate with mechanical and operations teams to minimize downtime and ensure smooth plant operations.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and uphold safety standards in all assigned work areas.

• ND, HND, Technical Certificate, or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience in electrical maintenance within DRI, Steel, Cement, or heavy process industries.
• Proficient in LT/HT systems, industrial wiring, and motor control systems.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings and use standard testing instruments.
• Strong teamwork, analytical, and safety awareness skills.
