Job Summary

The Head of Accounts Department will lead and oversee the finance and accounting operations of the Exchange, ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial management within a regulated commodities trading environment.



Key Responsibilities


Direct the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management accounts in line with IFRS or GAAP


Prepare and submit specialized regulatory financial returns as required by the Exchange and relevant authorities


Ensure full compliance with SEC regulations and other applicable financial regulatory requirements


Oversee the complete accounting cycle including general ledger, payables, receivables, payroll, and fixed assets


Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to support executive decision-making


Serve as the primary liaison with internal and external auditors and resolve audit findings promptly


Ensure compliance with all tax obligations and statutory filings


Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, and advise on treasury operations


Lead, mentor, and develop the accounts team while enforcing strong financial controls and ethical standards




Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field


Master’s degree (MBA or M.Sc.) is an added advantage


Mandatory professional accounting certification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent


Minimum of eight to ten years progressive experience in finance and accounting


At least three to five years experience in a senior management or leadership role


Prior experience in a Securities Exchange, Commodities Exchange, Clearing House, or regulated capital market institution is essential


Strong knowledge of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and exchange-level accounting practices
