Job Summary

The Marine Electrical / Electronics Engineer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic systems on marine vessels and offshore equipment. The role requires strong technical expertise in marine electrical systems, automation, navigation, and instrumentation to ensure operational reliability and compliance with industry standards.



Key Responsibilities


Install, maintain, and repair electrical and electronic systems on vessels, barges, and offshore platforms


Troubleshoot faults in electrical, control, and instrumentation systems


Conduct regular inspections, diagnostics, and testing of electrical equipment


Maintain and repair navigation and communication systems, including radar, GPS, AIS, echo sounders, VHF radio, and autopilot


Ensure proper operation of power distribution systems, switchboards, generators, transformers, and battery systems


Implement preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for all electrical/electronic equipment


Prepare technical reports, maintenance logs, and documentation for audits and compliance purposes


Ensure adherence to safety regulations, marine standards, and classification society requirements


Assist with electrical system upgrades, installations, commissioning, and integration


Collaborate with marine engineers, technicians, and operations teams to ensure vessel readiness and optimal performance





Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or HND in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field


Three to seven years of relevant experience in the marine or offshore industry


Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, automation, and instrumentation


Hands-on experience with navigation and communication equipment


Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings


Familiarity with SOLAS, IMO regulations, and classification society standards (ABS, Lloyd’s, DNV, etc.)


Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills


Strong teamwork and communication abilities


Willingness to work offshore or onboard vessels when required
