Job Summary

The Real Estate Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records related to property sales, rentals, developments, and operational expenses. The role ensures accurate accounting, timely reporting, proper cash flow management, and compliance with financial regulations, supporting informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate financial records for property sales, rentals, and development projects
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
  • Track income, expenses, and profitability per property/project
  • Reconcile bank statements, client accounts, and escrow records

Property & Project Accounting

  • Monitor project budgets, construction costs, and payment schedules
  • Track installment payments from clients and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Manage service charge and maintenance accounts (where applicable)
  • Calculate commissions for sales teams and external agents

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process invoices, vendor payments, and staff reimbursements
  • Issue receipts and invoices to clients
  • Maintain aging reports for receivables and ensure timely collections

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and financial procedures
  • Support tax filings (VAT, WHT, PAYE) and liaise with auditors
  • Maintain proper documentation for audits and regulatory reviews

Cash Flow & Forecasting

  • Monitor daily cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts
  • Advise management on cost control and financial efficiency





Required Qualifications

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA) is an added advantage
  • Minimum of 3–5 years accounting experience (real estate or construction preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
  • Good understanding of Nigerian tax and financial regulations
  • High level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality
